Sean Bedford Named Radio Analyst for Tech Broadcasts

Aug. 8, 2015

THE FLATS – Former two-time first-team All-ACC center and 2010 Burlsworth Trophy winner Sean Bedford is the new color analyst for Georgia Tech IMG Radio Network football broadcasts.

He will work alongside Brandon Gaudin, the Voice of the Yellow Jackets, and sideline reporter Randy Waters for Tech football broadcasts on the Georgia Tech IMG Radio Network. For the past two seasons, Bedford had been the co-host of the “Yellow Jacket Countdown” pre-game show on the Georgia Tech IMG Radio Network.

Bedford, a four-year letterwinner and a two-year starter at center, joined the Georgia Tech football team as a walk-on in 2007 and was a member of the Yellow Jackets’ 2009 ACC Championship team. He later won the inaugural Burlsworth Trophy (2010), which is award to the nation’s top player who began his career as a walk-on.

“I am tremendously excited to join Brandon in the booth for what promises to be an incredibly exciting season,” Bedford said. “There is no place more special to me than Georgia Tech, and I am honored to represent the Institute in this capacity. I would like to thank IMG, Athletic Director Mike Bobinski, Brandon, IMG, and the rest of the Georgia Tech Radio team for giving me this opportunity. It is truly a privilege to continue to work with the best radio team in the business in my new role.

“I would also like to thank my good friend and teammate, Roddy Jones, for his friendship, insight, and guidance. I looking forward to doing my best to honor the legacy that he, Rick Strom, and Kim King have built on the Flats.”

Bedford graduated from Georgia Tech in 2010 with a degree in aerospace engineering and a minor in pre-law. From Atlanta, he returned to his hometown of Gainesville, Fla., where he attended law school at the University of Florida, earning his juris doctor in 2014. He was the managing editor for the Florida Law Review from March 2013-March 2014.

Bedford currently works as an associate in the Atlanta office of the law firm Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP, where he focuses his practice on patent and intellectual property law.

“First, hats off to Roddy for landing a great opportunity with Raycom,” Gaudin said. “He was fantastic for us, and he’ll be fantastic for them. I can’t swear to it without proper research but at 11-3, I’m guessing he retires the winningest radio analyst (so far) in Tech history.

“In finding his successor, Sean was the natural fit, and I’m thrilled he is the next to occupy that chair,” Gaudin said. “He played in this offense, is an incredibly hard worker, has the respect and admiration of Tech fans, and has already proven himself to be talented behind the microphone. We are lucky to have him waiting in the wings.”

Thanks for the warm welcome to the booth! It's an honor to join @BrandonGaudin and represent @GeorgiaTechFB #TogetherWeSwarm #THWg!
