ATLANTA – Led by four wins from junior Scott Schnugg, the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team lost only one match en route to a pair of dual match wins over Troy State by a 6-1 score, and Mercer by a 7-0 score, on Saturday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta, Ga.
The Yellow Jackets (2-0) opened the day by claiming a victory over Troy State. Tech swept all three doubles matches in the morning, as the tandem of Schnugg and West Nott picked up an 8-4 win over the Trojans’ Pablo Martinez and Rolando Vargas at No. 1 doubles. They were followed at No. 2 by the team of Joao Menano and Marko Rajevac, who defeated Daniel Qunceno and Robert van Swelm by an 8-3 score to give Tech the doubles point. At No. 3, Roger Anderson and Trevor McLeod defeated Emir Basic and Andrew Waters by an 8-4 count.

Menano and Rajevac clinched the doubles point at No. 2with an 8-3 victory over Mercer’s tandem of Michael Witting and Nima Akhavein.
Tech continued to roll with the start of the afternoon’s singles play, as Schnugg was again the catalyst, winning his match at No.1 against Felipe Echeverri. Schnugg lost only two games on his way to a 6-2, 6-0 straight-set victory. Menano was the second singles winner of the match for the Jackets’ defeating Mercer’s Richardo Echeverri in straight sets by scores of 6-3 and 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Fabio Campos needed three sets to win his match at No. 2 singles against Witting. Campos won the first set by a 6-1 score before dropping a 6-2 decision in the second frame. He rallied to win the third by a 6-4 count.
The Yellow Jackets also got wins from both of their freshmen in the match, as Trevor McLeod defeated Nima Akhavein at No. 5 singles by a 6-0, 6-2 score, while Marko Rajevac was a straight-set winner at No. 6 singles over Subash Patel by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
