Saturday’s #GTWhiteOut game vs. ACC Coastal rival Miami will be Georgia Tech’s 12th home night game of the Paul Johnson era and the Yellow Jackets’ first of the 2014 season.
And with such a beautiful skyline like Atlanta’s as a backdrop for the oldest FBS stadium in the nation, it’s no wonder why Georgia Tech fans are so excited about Saturday “under the lights”.
The first ACC home night game for Paul Johnson as Yellow Jackets head coach? 2008’s #GTWhiteOut game vs. Miami. That night on the Flats, the Jackets took a 24-3 halftime lead behind two Jonathan Dwyer touchdown runs and opened their lead to 41-10 after three quarters. Georgia Tech’s defense held the Hurricanes to 105 yards on the ground, while its offense ran all over the Miami defense for 472 rushing yards.
Georgia Tech is 8-3 in home night games under Paul Johnson, including a 5-2 mark in ACC games. Tech was 1-1 in home night games in 2013 – a 21-10 Homecoming win over Pitt and a 17-10 #GTWhiteOut loss to Virginia Tech.
