Rivalry Continued

Sept. 4, 2011

STING DAILY – After coming off of an impressive week one showing, Buzz looks to continue his success into week two where he will face off with Georgia’s Hairy Dawg in just another meeting between the two rivals.

Buzz dominated in week one, drawing the highest vote total with 116,925 votes (as of 8:30 Sunday night) to his opponent Sparty’s 104,020. The next closest vote total was Auburn, with 79,703 votes.

“The Georgia Tech fans are unbelievable for voting as much as they did in week one,” said Buzz through a mascot translator. “I hope they continue to vote for me this week and help me to take down Hairy Dawg!”

Hairy Dawg didn’t have much success in week one, tallying just 7,306 votes, the third lowest vote total among the 16 mascots.

Now comes the part where we tell you why you should vote for Buzz, although this week, the No.1 reason is clear …

… THWG!

But in case that isn’t enough for you, here are three more reasons…

• Buzz cheered his team on to a 63-21 romping of Tech’s first week opponent, Western Carolina while Hairy Dawg was standing on the sidelines while Georgia fell to Boise State at the Georgia Dome just a couple days later.

• The match up between the two is the featured match up this week in the Capital One Bowl Challenge. Let’s show the country who’s No. 1.

• Don’t let that cute wiggle fool you, the Yellow Jacket is considered one of the deadliest insects out there. And I am pretty sure that Hairy Dawgs’ bark is worse than his bite.

The Tech and Georgia volleyball teams will go head to head at the Regency Suites Invitational this Friday night at 7 p.m. Make sure that you start the week off right by voting for Buzz and then come out and support your Jackets at O’Keefe Gymnasium as they take on the Dawgs.
