Seven Georgia Tech baseball alums were on 2016 Opening Day Major League Baseball rosters – Charlie Blackmon (Colorado), Marlon Byrd (Cleveland), Derek Dietrich (Miami), Buck Farmer (Detroit), Mark Teixeira (New York Yankees), Matt Wieters (Baltimore), and Blake Wood (Cincinnati).
Wieters made the most of Opening Day as he delivered a walk-off RBI single to give Baltimore a 3-2 win over Minnesota. After the game, teammate Adam Jones delivered a cake to the face of Wieters.
In addition to the seven big leagues, Georgia Tech has four more #ProJackets in Class AAA, six in Class AA and seven in Class A.
