THE FLATS — Week 8 saw more exciting play out of #ProJackets as Harrison Butker’s Chiefs’ improved to 7-1, Michael Johnson turned in a season-best defensive effort and Demaryius Thomas logged his final game as a Bronco.
Defensive end Johnson ended October with another terrific game as the Bengals got back on the winning track, defeating Tampa Bay by three. In the win, Johnson recorded a season-high five combined tackles, half a sack and his second defended pass of the season.
Thomas had another fine performance Sunday, hauling in three passes for 30 yards. The game would up being his last for the Broncos as he was traded to the Houston Texans prior to the trade deadline for Week 9. In eight years in Denver, Thomas had 665 receptions for 9,055 yards and 60 touchdowns.
His first game as a Texan will be against his former team.
Butker’s Chiefs also improved to an impressive 7-1 record, but another record came to an end as Butker missed an extra point for the first time in his career – was previously a perfect 50-for-50. Butker improved to 13-of-14 on field goals for the season when he knocked down a 24-yarder in the first quarter to trim Denver’s lead to four, 7-3.
