Recap |  Box Score

Boston University
Head Coach Shawn Rychcik
On how his team performed tonight:
“I think Tech is ranked about 14th in the nation, but when I looked up at the scoreboard we were 1-0 in the sixth inning ahead of them. We know we can play. We’ve had a good year, winning 41 games by accident. I don’t care who you played or where you’re at. We believe we can win and we’ve won all year. It’s been about seven years since we’ve been in the regionals. The kids haven’t obviously been in this situation, but they came out and played hard today. I think they should be proud of how they played today.”

Brooke Hudson, 3B
On what went wrong in tonight’s loss:
“We had an error to start off that [6th] inning and they got lucky on a couple ground balls that bounced out of the infield which got them up on the bases. Then they had one good hit that put them up ahead of us. I think it was a little bit of bad luck and a little nerves.”

Melissa Dubay, SS
On their defense which held the Jackets to one run through six innings:
“We’ve been playing really good defense throughout the past few weeks. We have a very good defense and I don’t think there was anything that we did differently today.

Georgia Tech
Head Coach Sharon Perkins
On how the Yellow Jackets broke the pitchers’ duel and came out with a win:
“Coan looked great, she came in right out of the gate and looked phenomenal. She was hitting her locations really well. I think we were a little over anxious the first few innings then we finally settled down and got patient. We started seeing the ball a little better and finally made something happen.”

On Coan’s pitching performance
“It was huge. She hasn’t had a chance throw a whole lot because Tiffany and Atkins have been doing the majority of the pitching. She has had a couple of really great outing the past couple weeks and for her to come in and solidify the first game of the regional was awesome.”

On the fan support and playing at home in the regionals for the first time
“We always play well here. We have only been here since March, but we have made it our home. We are excited to have the fans here and we get a lot of really great support from staff, fraternities, and students.”

#21 Kristen Adkins, 3B
On the come from behind win against Boston University
“It was a big deal. You know the first game of any tournament or playoff series for that matter is a big game. And every time I went to the circle I would tell Coan `hang in there, do your job, we are going to get some runs on the board for you.’ And that’s what we did.”

On how they continue with success tomorrow
“We will come in early, eat some breakfast, watch some video. Also, just try and remember the good things we did. Tonight we will envision ourselves as successful, and when it come time to play ball tomorrow we will all show up to play.”

#12 Jessica Coan, P
“My screwball, rise ball and curve ball were all working. I had outside, inside, and up which was definitely working for me. The defense behind me was awesome.”
