Popularity of Georgia Tech Athletics on Social Media Continues to Grow

July 6, 2009

ATLANTA – Over the last four months, the Georgia Tech Athletic Association has seen a steady growth of popularity on both its Twitter and Facebook pages. Since March, the GTAthletics Facebook page has doubled in fans, while its Twitter page has grown almost five-times over in followers.

Georgia Tech fans, who have accessed the two social media web sites, have been provided behind-the-scenes information, links to Georgia Tech specific stories and were offered opportunities to win tickets to Georgia Tech sporting events.

Fans can sign up for Facebook and Twitter for free. To access the Yellow Jackets page on Facebook, fans can go to www.facebook.com/gtathletics. If interested in becoming a follower of GTAthletics on Twitter, visit www.twitter.com/GTAthletics.

Followers of GTAthletics on Twitter can also begin to follow golf head coach Bruce Heppler (www.twitter.com/Coach_Heppler), women’s basketball head coach MaChelle Joseph (www.twitter.com/GT_Coach_Jo) and women’s tennis head coach Bryan Shelton (www.twitter.com/CoachBShelton).
