SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Georgia Tech All-American Montrell Person posted a time of 13.95 in the 110-meter high hurdles at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials on Saturday afternoon at Hornet Stadium.
Person concluded competition for the Yellow Jackets at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Sophomore NCAA national champion Chaunte Howard finished second in the women’s high jump on Monday, July 12, to punch her ticket to the Athens Olympics with a clear of 6’4.75″.
Also competing at the Trials for the Rambling Wreck were seniors Brendon Mahoney, Amandi Rhett and sophomore Brandy Depland. Mahoney finished 13th in the men’s 1500 meters with a time of 3:42.59 on Friday night, while Rhett tallied an 18th-place finish in the women’s 100-meter dash with a time of 11.72 on July 9th.
Depland posted a mark of 39’3.75″ in the women’s triple jump to finish 21st at the Trials.
At the IAAF World Junior Championships, freshman Ashlee Kidd earned a Bronze medal in the women’s 400 meters for Team USA with a time of 52.45 on Thursday night in Grosseto, Italy.
Former Tech men’s track athlete Angelo Taylor will defend his 2000 Olympics Gold medal at the Athens Olympics, tallying a third-place finish in the men’s 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
