#Overtime with Robert Sampson

Feb. 26, 2015

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior forward Robert Sampson nearing the finish of his collegiate career in the next couple of weeks and will play his final home game at McCamish Pavilion Monday night against North Carolina.

Sampson has been a steady contributor each game for the Yellow Jackets in the post this season (5.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in 21.0 minutes per game; 5.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg in ACC games). He was Tech’s top frontcourt reserve for most of this season until getting into the starting lineup for the Jackets’ last 10 games.

He ranks 15th in the ACC in rebound average, and his 24 blocks and 16 steals are No. 2 and 4 on the team, respectively. He has grabbed six or more rebounds in 19 games, and has scored in double figures in three games.

Sampson sat out last season at Tech after transferring from East Carolina, where he started 51 games in his last two years there, and played 96 games total in three years. He is the younger of two sons of Naismith Hall of Famer Ralph Sampson who have played college basketball. His older brother, Ralph III, was a four-year letterwinner at Minnesota.
