THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field’s Cameron O’Neal has been named the ACC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Last weekend at the Florida State Relays, O’Neal championed the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.88 meters (25-10.25). His performance in the long jump currently ranks second in the NCAA and is the fourth-best men’s outdoor mark in Georgia Tech history.
In the national event rankings, O’Neal sits behind a Mississippi State athlete, Cameron Crump, who placed second in the long jump at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships. With this mark, O’Neal has greatly increased his chance of qualifying for the 2023 NCAA East Preliminaries which is the first step in reaching the national meet.
