Playing on the road in ACC action for the second straight weekend, junior pitcher Zach Brewster blogs about the Georgia Tech baseball team’s travels in this edition of “On the road with the Jackets”.

Hey Fans,
The Jackets started the game off on fire and kept it going throughout the game to take a 13-5 victory. In the first inning Derek [Dietrich], Tony [Plagman], and Cole [Leonida] hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to give the Jackets an early 3-0 lead. After the 1st inning, great two out hitting led to a five run inning in the 7th which put the game out of reach for good. The Tech bullpen was also outstanding tonight, keeping the Tar Heels at bay late in the game.
We have an early morning tomorrow with the game’s start time being moved to noon. Check back to see how we do tomorrow as we come out looking for the series sweep. Go Jackets!

Hey Fans,
The Jackets got the weekend off to a great start with a 2-1 win tonight against the Tar Heels. The weather was bleak the entire game with a constant mist falling and temperatures that seemed like they belonged in February. The action on the field was quite the opposite however; both starters, Deck and Harvey, battled until late in the game. Even after the starters were pulled, the excitement didn’t stop. Twice, in the 8th and 9th innings, Esch started double plays to end the inning and the game.
After an emotionally draining game, everyone was extremely excited to come away with the victory. Well I must say goodnight as the Jackets and I get some rest and prepare for Game two tomorrow against the Tar Heels. Thanks for all your support and Go Jackets.

Hey Jacket Fans,
This is Zach Brewster, coming to y’all on the road from the Jackets second home, the Embassy Suites in Cary, North Carolina. (The staff and returning players are very familiar with this hotel – we stayed almost two weeks here last year for our road series against Duke and then the ACC Tournament in Durham.) This weekend we are up here to play North Carolina in our second-straight ACC road series of the year.
We arrived in Cary around 6 p.m. after our 10:30 a.m. departure yesterday. We stopped at another familiar place for the Jackets – the Golden Corral outside of Charlotte – on the way up here. After arriving at the hotel we went to our rooms and quickly changed for practice at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill. The newly-renovated stadium was quite a sight to see. The all chair-back seating and stadium design was very impressive; however the playing surface can’t top that of the Rusty C. Practice consisted of just a round of batting practice to get the players acclimated to the field before our series opener tonight at 7 p.m.
After practice, we came back to the hotel where we grabbed a quick dinner on our own followed by rest as we all prepare for our big game tomorrow night against the Tar Heels. Stay tuned this weekend for more updates about the game and an inside look as to how things go around Tech Baseball. Thanks for taking the time to support us in our quest to return to Omaha in 2010 – Go Jackets!
