Oliver Out With Broken Thumb

Feb. 8, 2011

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech forward Brian Oliver will be sidelined approximately three weeks with a broken left thumb, head coach Paul Hewitt announced Tuesday.

The 6-6 sophomore from Glassboro, N.J., sustained a small fracture in the base of his left thumb (non-shooting hand) during Saturday’s game against Clemson. He attempted to participate in individual instruction Monday with the thumb protected, but he and Tech’s medical staff determined he will need surgery, scheduled for Wednesday, to repair the thumb.

Oliver has been Tech’s third-leading scorer this season, averaging 10.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He has started 12 of Tech’s 22 games.
