TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Georgia Tech softball team (2-8) fell to No. 7 Michigan (8-1), 10-2, in five innings Sunday in its final game of the FSU Unconquered Invite at JoAnne Graf Field.
Samantha Pierannunzi led the Yellow Jackets going 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. Kelsey Chisholm was 1-for-2 with a double and a run, while Katie Johnsky was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
In the bottom of the first with one out, Michigan drew a bases loaded walk to get on the board first and a sacrifice fly plated another run for the Wolverines. Two additional runs crossed the plate for Michigan, pushing its lead to 4-0 and the Wolverines tacked on another run in the bottom of the second to take a 5-0 lead.
The Jackets got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, Chisholm launched a double to right center, followed by a single up the right side by Pierannunzi to score Chisholm. Pierannunzi scored on a single courtesy of Johnsky to give Tech a pair of runs and make it a three-run game, 5-2.
Michigan went to work in the bottom of the fifth inning and put up five runs, winning the game 10-2 on a walk off single to centerfield with the bases loaded and two outs.
The Jackets are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 18 when they open their home schedule with a doubleheader against USC Upstate. Action at Mewborn Field begins at 3 p.m.
