Senior Marko Rajevac won at No. 1 doubles and posted an upset win over No. 43 Nick Cavaday at No. 1 singles to lead the No. 30 Georgia Tech men’s tennis team to a 4-3 win over NC State. With the win, the Yellow Jackets even their record at 8-8, 2-6 ACC while the Wolfpack fall to 19-7, 2-6 ACC.

For the second consecutive match, the Yellow Jackets claimed the doubles point, this time winning at all three spots. Tech started things off with a win at No. 2 as Scott Blackmon and Zachary Rath recorded an 8-6 win over William Noblitt and Ben Zink. The Jackets then clinched the point as Rajevac and David North teamed together to net an 8-5 at No. 1 over Val Banada and Will Shaw. The Jackets then completed the sweep as the pair of Jordan Delass and George Gvelesiani tallied an 8-6 at No. 3 over Cavaday and Jay Weinacker.

The Wolfpack quickly tied the score at 1-1 when Banada posted a straight set win over Delass at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 7-5. The score then became 2-1 in the favor of the Wolfpack when Weinacker won at No. 5 singles over Gvelesiani, 6-3, 6-3.

The Jackets tied the score at 2-2 when David North easily defeated Shaw at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1 but NC State regained the lead, 3-2, as after dropping the first set, Noblitt came back to defeat Tech’s Rath at No. 3, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Despite trailing 3-2, Tech fought back as after dropping the first set in the final two matches, both Yellow Jackets held on for wins.

Blackmon tied the score at 3-3 as he posted a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles which then set up the dramatics for Rajevac, who netted a 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 win over Cavaday at No. 1 singles.
