No. 3 Jackets Prepare for Pair of ACC Matchups

THE FLATS – After a successful weekend competing in North Carolina that propelled the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team to No. 3 in the national rankings, the Yellow Jackets are set for a pair of ACC matchups this weekend. Tech welcomes Notre Dame to the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Friday at 3 p.m. before heading to Syracuse for an 11 a.m. first serve on Sunday.

THE SCENE: Tech (13-3, 5-1 ACC) will look to record its fifth-straight win on Friday, hosting the Fighting Irish in Atlanta. The Jackets, who boast a 6-1 record at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex this season, will look to rebound from its last home match in which they fell to Miami on March 14. Sophomore Nami Otsuka, who was victorious in all four matches last weekend, picked up Tech’s second ACC Player of the Week honor this season. Johnnise Renaud captured the first in February.

Notre Dame brings a 10-6 overall mark and 2-4 ACC ledger into this weekend’s matchup. The Fighting Irish have lost three straight to league opponents, but have been victorious over Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. Rachel Chong leads the Fighting Irish this season with a 17-6 overall singles record and 8-4 dual mark.

Syracuse (12-3, 4-3 ACC) enters the weekend winners of three of the past four matches. The Orange face Pittsburgh on Friday before hosting the Jackets on Sunday. Gabriela Knutson, the nation’s ninth-ranked player, remains undefeated in the dual season, boasting a 9-0 mark from the No. 1 position. She stands at 4-0 against league opponents.

ITA RANKINGS: Georgia Tech climbed three spots in the latest national rankings after a successful weekend, rising to No. 3 in this week’s ITA national rankings. Syracuse dropped two spots in this week’s ranking, coming in at No. 34. Below are the individual rankings:
