ATLANTA (AP) – Kim Rogers hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give No. 12 Maryland a 56-53 win over No. 24 Georgia Tech on Thursday night in a game interrupted by a power outage with just over 2 minutes to play.

Rogers’ winning shot from the baseline came on an inbounds play with 1.2 seconds left after Georgia Tech had tied the game on a foul shot by Sasha Goodlett with 44.4 seconds remaining.

Lynetta Kizer had 19 points and Alyssa Thomas scored 17 for Maryland (19-3, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference). Rogers had just five points prior to the winning 3-pointer and was 0 for 3 from behind the arc previously.

Tyaunna Marshall scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half for Georgia Tech (18-7, 6-3). Alex Montgomery had 13 points and 15 rebounds.

The game was interrupted for 20 minutes while full lighting was restored after an apparent power surge darkened Alexander Memorial Coliseum with 2:12 to play.

Montgomery and Metra Walthour hit 3-pointers to start the second half and Georgia Tech took its first lead at 30-29 on two free throws by Montgomery less than 3 minutes in.

The Yellow Jackets hit eight of their first 11 shots after intermission and were up 40-36 with 12 minutes to play. Maryland then scored seven straight points, but Montgomery hit a 3-pointer to start a 10-2 run that gave Georgia Tech a 50-45 lead with less than 5 minutes left.

But Thomas and Rogers had three-point plays around a basket by Marshall, and Maryland went back ahead on a score by Kizer just before the lights went out.

Maryland took a quick 7-2 lead and was ahead by nine points late in the first half before going into halftime up 27-20.

Kizer had nine points and Thomas scored eight in the first half.

Georgia Tech shot just 25.9 percent in the opening half, including 2 for 11 from 3-point range.
