No. 23 Men's Tennis Sweeps Maryland, 7-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (April 1) – 23rd-ranked Georgia Tech swept Maryland, 7-0, on April 1 in College Park, to pick up its second road Atlantic Coast Conference victory in as many days.

The Jackets (14-4, 4-1 ACC) opened the match by claiming the doubles point, behind victories by the teams of Roger Anderson and David Wright at No. 1 doubles, Romain Coirault and Joao Menano at No. 2 doubles, and Sergio Aguirre and Stephen Moros at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Romain Coirault defeated Chris Chiu of Maryland (4-9, 0-6 ACC) at the No. 1 position, 7-5, 7-5. Stephen Moros defeated Jonathan Neeter at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-2, while Alex Navinkov defeated Terrapin Luan Nguyen, 7-6, 6-2, at the third singles position. Joao Menano defeated Jonathan Murchison in three sets at No. 4 singles, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3. Sergio Aguirre also needed three sets to defeat Maryland’s Larry Chou at the fifth singles position, 6-0, 2-6, 6-2. Jason Jeong took home the Jackets’ final singles victory, defeating Dan Kenshalo, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 6 position.

Georgia Tech will return to action on Friday evening in a 5 p.m. match against Florida State in Tallahassee.
