In game one, Sallinger was the story as she threw her eighth complete-game shutout, scattering three hits and struck out 14 Lady Trojan hitters. Sallinger has struck at least 10 batters on 13 occasions this season. Voeltz tossed a two-hitter in the nightcap, striking out seven in her third complete-game shutout of the season.
In the opener, Senior Soraya Reddick led off the top of the first inning with a base hit to center field and then stole second base to give Tech a runner in scoring position with no outs. Reddick moved over to third base on a ground out to the right side. Troy State then intentionally walked senior Tara Knudsen and the Jackets pulled off a double steal to tally the first run of the inning. With two outs in the inning, junior Liz Bartle singled up the middle to collect the second run as the Yellow Jackets led 2-0.
Reddick started the third inning with a base hit to left field and stole her second base of the afternoon. Knudsen was intentionally walked for the second time and each base runner stole a base, with Reddick scoring on a wild throw to left field. Knudsen came around to score on a base hit by junior Katie Donovan as the Jackets led 4-0.
Neither team managed a run over the next four innings as Tech downed the Lady Trojans, 4-0. Georgia Tech scored four runs, on eight hits and had no errors, while TSU had no runs, three hits and committed two errors.

Troy State tallied the second out of the inning on a ground out to third base. Bartle then delivered a two-out double in the left center gap to plate two runs as Tech jumped out in front 2-0.

Harcourt tallied a double play as Waugh lined out to right field and Bartle was doubled off at second base.
The Yellow Jackets were opportunistic in the sixth inning as sophomore Lauren Schlechte reached on an error, senior Sara Wissmann singled and Kumar reached on a fielder’s choice, which allowed Schlechte to score on a bad throw that got away from the TSU third baseman. Tech was unable to push any more runs across as the game advanced to the bottom of the sixth inning with the Jackets on top, 5-0.
Tech loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning on two hits and a walk. Schlechte drove in the first run with a base knock to left field as the Jackets increased their lead to six.
