MARIETTA, Ga. – Nicholls State’s Dione Meier won a pitcher’s duel over senior Erin Voletz, 2-1, this afternoon to end Tech’s eight-game winning streak at the Buzz Classic. NSU’s Brandi Hahn put the Colonels on top in the third inning with a line drive home run that barely cleared the fence as Tech trailed early, 2-0.

Senior Soraya Reddick led off the bottom of the sixth inning with her second double of the game as she sent a screamer off the left field fence to give Tech a runner in scoring position. Junior Katie Donoval delivered for the Jackets with a two-out single to right center field as the deficit was down to one, 2-1.

Tech did not threaten in the bottom of the seventh inning as Meier retired the side in order. Meier allowed three hits and struck out 12 in the game.

Georgia Tech (2-1) will wrap up pool play against Western Kentucky (2-1) on Saturday, March 20, at 1 and 3 p.m. respectively.
