>> No. 19 Georgia Tech continues its rivalry week at Clemson with an important ACC series this weekend versus the Tigers at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

>> The series is underway Friday at 2:30 p.m., while the second game of Friday’s twinbill begins at 7 p.m. and can be seen on CSS and ESPN3 with Matt Stewart and Rod Delmonico. Nolan Alexander and Wiley Ballard have the call on WREK.

>> The Jackets split four games versus the Tigers last season, winning 6-5 at Russ Chandler Stadium in a 13-inning thriller that ended when Daniel Palka slammed a walk-off home run. Tech beat CU 5-1 in pool play at the ACC Championship.

>> Friday’s game marks the 211th in the all-time series that dates back to 1902 and favors Clemson by a narrow 105-102-3 margin. Tech, though, is 21-45-1 all-time at Clemson and has not won a road series since 2005.

>> Junior LF Kyle Wren brings a nine-game hitting streak into the series and is hitting .375. Wren’s .435 average in ACC play leads the league. He also paces the ACC in overall hits (66) and is second in stolen bases (22).

>> Senior CF Brandon Thomas’ average of .395 is second-best in the ACC. Daniel Palka and Zane Evans share the ACC lead with 11 homers, while Palka is third in slugging (.642) and Evans is fourth in RBI (46).

>> Buck Farmer is one of 41 named to the watch list for the 2013 Pitcher of the Year Award, while Brandon Thomas is one of 10 finalists nationally for the Senior CLASS Award.
