ATLANTA – The 19th-ranked Georgia Tech softball team (49-13) will conclude its regular season this Monday, May 7, as Mercer University (14-43) and the Yellow Jackets will play a single game at 1 p.m. at Glenn Field.
The Jackets are on a school record 15-game winning streak and stand No. 15 in the RPI rankings. Tech boasts one of the top offensive teams in the country, breaking Atlantic Coast Conference records in batting average (.331), home runs (89), RBI (394), total bases (949), slugging percentage (.551) and on base percentage (.403).
The Jackets have five players with 50 RBIs or more, including Brittany Barnes (71), Savannah Brown (71), Whitney Haller (60), Caitlin Lever (58) and Jennifer Yee (51). Barnes and Brown are two RBIs shy of setting a new ACC record, set by Haller last season.
Tech will be the No. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament, May 10-13, in Tallahassee, Fla. If Maryland wins one game this weekend against Boston College, the Jackets and Terps will match-up in the first round of the tournament, Thursday, at 10 a.m.
