ATLANTA – The 19th-ranked Georgia Tech softball team (40-9) will head across town to face archrival No. 11 Georgia (41-9) in a non-conference single game on Tuesday. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. start at the UGA Softball Complex.
The Jackets are riding a six-game winning streak and sit in first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings at 9-2. Tech has a two-game lead on the second-place Virginia Cavaliers (7-4). The Yellow Jackets rank nationally in stolen bases (3rd), earned run average (15th), fielding percentage (16th), win-loss percentage (17th) and batting average (26th) as of April 10.
Georgia leads the Southeastern Conference with a record of 22-2. The Bulldogs are hitting .332 as a team and have 40 home runs on the season. In the circle, Michelle Green leads the way with a record of 19-3 and a 1.18 ERA. Kim Wendland leads UGA offensively, hitting .423, with 11 home runs and a team high 46 runs batted in.
Tech will remain out of conference on Wednesday as the Jackets travel to Panthersville for a single game with Georgia State. Game time is set for 6 p.m. All Georgia Tech softball games can be followed on www.ramblinwreck.com.
