Georgia Tech and Auburn meet for the first time on the hardwood since 1997 on Sunday as the Yellow Jackets look to keep their record unblemished. The Yellow Jackets bring a 4-0 record into Sunday’s matinee and seek their first win over the Tigers in program history. Three Yellow Jackets are averaging double-figures paced by Nerea Hermosa with a 12.5 points per game average. Lorela Cubaj is averaging a double-double on the young season, adding 10.3 points and a team-high 11.8 rebounds per game. Cubaj leads the ACC and is third in the nation in rebounding.
Auburn has opened the season with a 1-2 record dropping games against Georgia Southern and Old Dominion before collecting a win against Alabama State. Led by first-year head coach Johnnie Harris, the Tigers have led at halftime twice in their three games this season. Auburn is led offensively by Honesty Scott-Grayson who contributes 14.0 points per game. Sania Wells and Aicha Coulibaly add 12.7 points per game each. Coulibaly also averages a double-double, securing a team-best 10.0 rebounds per game.
Georgia Tech and Auburn have met three times on the hardwood with the last meeting taking place in 1997. The Jackets and Tigers also met twice in 1975-76. Auburn has taken all three contests, including a pair in Atlanta.
