ATLANTA – The No. 12/9 Georgia Tech Softball team (13-2) will host the 18th annual Buzz Classic this weekend at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex in Woodstock, Ga. The Yellow Jackets welcome 22 teams this year as they look to defend their title from a year ago. Tech’s first game is at 6 p.m. Friday night against Seton Hall (1-4).
On Saturday, Georgia Tech continues the Classic with games against James Madison (5-4) at 1 p.m. and then No. 23 Kentucky (11-3) at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the Jackets close out with games against Dartmouth (0-0) and Mississippi (11-5). Live stats will be available for all Georgia Tech games this weekend, but please note there will not be an audio broadcast.
Georgia Tech is coming off a 5-1 week, including an impressive 4-1 record at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. Jen Yee, who was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week, is leading the ACC in nearly every statistical category this season. The Player of the Year candidate is batting .587 with 23 runs scored, three doubles, a triple, 10 home runs, 24 RBI and 11 walks. Yee is slugging 1.348 and has an on-base percentage of .667.
Tickets for the 2010 Buzz Classic cost $12 for the entire weekend or $5 a day. Kids tickets cost $7 and $3. Tickets are available for purchase at the Twin Creeks Complex each morning.
