No. 10 Yellow Jackets Visit UNC, Wake Forest

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis concludes this four-match road swing this weekend, visiting No. 4 North Carolina on Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by a trip to No. 29 Wake Forest on Sunday at 10 a.m.

THE SCENE: Georgia Tech, winners of the past 11 matches and ranked No. 10, faces a tough weekend of ACC play opening the slate at UNC on Saturday. Tech and UNC are tied for first in the ACC standings, both carrying a 7-0 record. The Jackets own an overall mark of 17-2 and the Tar Heels boast a 20-1 ledger, having only dropped a 4-2 decision to Florida in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship match. Saturday’s match will take place at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

The Jackets will face a quick turnaround and visit Wake Forest on Sunday for a 10 a.m. match at Wake Forest Tennis Complex. The Demon Deacons travel to Virginia on Friday before welcoming the Jackets on Sunday. Wake Forest enters the weekend with a 13-5 overall record and owns a 3-3 ACC mark.

ITA RANKINGS – In the latest ITA rankings released Tuesday, Tech boasts three Jackets in singles rankings: Rasheeda McAdoo (No. 46), Johnnise Renaud (No. 104) and Paige Hourigan (No. 113). In doubles, Tech’s duo of Rasheeda McAdoo and Johnnise Renaud sit at No. 19. UNC claims five spots in the singles rankings: No. 2 Hayley Carter, No. 9 Sara Daavettila, No. 23 Jessie Aney, No. 40 Alexa Graham and No. 77 Makenna Jones. In doubles, the Tar Heel duo of Aney and Carter are No. 1 in the nation, while Carter and Daavettila (#49) and Aney and Cassandra Vazquez (#69) are also ranked.

Wake Forest has two players ranked nationally in singles: No. 62 Kimmy Guerin and No. 110 Emma Davis.

LAST TIME OUT – The Jackets took three matches last week, including wins at Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
