Nissan #ProJackets Baseball Report

July 19, 2017

THE FLATS — As the second half of the season has begun, a number of #ProJackets have not slowed down while others look to close out the year on a high note as the last two months of the season quickly approaches.

The MLB All-Star break did nothing to slow down Charlie Blackmon, as he has hit .409 (9-for-22) with two home runs, two triples, two doubles, four RBIs and seven runs scored over his last five games since taking part in the midsummer classic in Miami on July 11.

Blackmon was also nominated by the Colorado Rockies for the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) 2017 Heart & Hustle Award. This award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game. The Heart and Hustle Award is also the only award in Major League Baseball that is voted on by former players. Voting is conducted prior to the All-Star Break.

Preparation. Performance. Playing Hard.

Matt Wieters and the Washington Nationals will look to close out the second half of the season on a high note and secure themselves a playoff spot before the last few weeks of the season. Since the all-star break, Wieters has hit .400 (6-for-15) over four games.

Derek Dietrich will look to make the most of an injury to fellow Marlin Martin Prado who went to the disabled list on July 18, while Blake Wood will look to finish the second half of the season out strong for the Cincinnati Reds having struck out four over his last four innings of relief work.

In the minor leagues, Sam Clay continues to shine out of the bullpen for the Fort Myers Miracle (Class A-Advanced) as he is 7-0 on the season with a 1.48 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 30 games.

Fellow hurler Jake Esch posted a complete game in his last outing on July 15, as he gave up just three earned runs over nine complete for the Lake Elsinore Storm (Class A-Advanced).

Daniel Palka
is on a rehab assignment with the GCL Twins (Rookie) to get back to the Rochester Red Wings (Triple A) in the next few days, while Kyle Wren continues to rake for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Triple A) this season, as he is hitting .303 on the year with a total of 94 base knocks.

Below is a complete list of the Baseball #ProJackets playing professionally this season.
