Nissan #ProJackets Baseball Report

Sept. 13, 2017

THE FLATS — On Tuesday, Sept. 12, another Georgia Tech baseball #ProJacket made his Major League Baseball debut, as Deck McGuire threw 1.2 scoreless innings for the Cincinnati Reds. With his MLB appearance, Georgia Tech head coach Danny Hall has now had a total of 25 former student-athletes and #ProJackets play in the major leagues.

#Reds also call up big Deck McGuire from @BlueWahoosBBall for @MLB debut. Good year for #BlueJays‘ 2010 1st-rounder: https://t.co/2zcv5CwEva pic.twitter.com/XRDsvNx2xz

On top of McGuire’s debut, Charlie Blackmon continues to sit atop of the National League statistics in a number of categories, while Matt Wiethers and the Washington Nationals clinched the NL East Division title with three weeks left in the regular season.

Blackmon leads the NL in hitting (.336), hits (196), triples (14), total bases (358) and runs scored (129). He also ranks third in the NL in home runs (34), slugging percentage (.613) and on-base plus slugging percentage (1.034) on the season.
