MRI Dictates Choice Will Have Surgery Tuesday

Oct. 22, 2007

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech senior running back Tashard Choice, who left Saturday’s game against Army with an injured right knee, will have surgery tomorrow to determine the extent of the injury.

The results of an MRI that Choice had earlier today dictated that he will need the surgery. The results of Tuesday’s surgery will determine how long the Riverdale (Ga.) native will be out.

Choice will not play in the Yellow Jackets’ next game, Nov. 1 against 8th-ranked Virginia Tech, head coach Chan Gailey confirmed this afternoon.

Choice, who leads the ACC in rushing (108.0 yards per game) for the second straight year, will miss a game for the first time in three years at Georgia Tech. An extremely durable back, Choice has played most of this season with a tender hamstring but entered last Saturday’s game against Army with three consecutive games of 100 yards rushing.

He injured the knee in the first quarter of the Army game.
