ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s Anthony Morrow was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week and Virginia Tech’s Jeff Allen was selected as ACC Rookie of the Week, the ACC office announced Monday.

Morrow averaged 27.0 points and 8.0 rebounds as Georgia Tech split two games. The Charlotte, N.C., senior made 20-of-37 shots from the floor, including 8-of-15 from three-point range. In earning ACC Player of the Week honors for the second time in his career, Morrow scored a career-high 31 points, including 24 after halftime, Sunday night in Georgia Tech’s 99-85 win over Tennessee State in Nashville.

In Tech’s 83-74 loss to UNC Greensboro Friday night, Morrow scored 23 points, making 8-of-18 shots from the floor (3-of-6 from three-point range), with six rebounds and one assist.

The 6-5 guard has moved into seventh place on Georgia Tech’s all-time three-point field goal list with 185.

In earning the league’s Rookie of the Week Award, Allen began his collegiate career in fine fashion posting his first career “double-double” in Virginia Tech’s 69-64 win over visiting Elon Friday night. The Washington, D.C., product scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, had four steals, two blocks and two assists with no turnovers in the season opening win.
