Moore Named ACC Player of the Week

Georgia Tech forward Clarence Moore was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week for his play in the Yellow Jackets’ 96-80 upset of 12th-ranked Syracuse, sharing this week’s award with Darius Songaila of Wake Forest.

Moore, a 6-5 sophomore from Norco, La., recorded career highs with 20 points and seven assists to lead Georgia Tech to a 96-80 upset of 12th-ranked Syracuse.

Moore also contributed five rebounds and two steals while playing excellent defense, holding Syracuse standout Preston Shumpert to a season-low 13 points, well below his 23.4 average.

Moore was 6-of-11 from the field, including two three-pointers and was 6-for-7 at the free throw line.

Songaila, a 6-9 senior from Marijampole, Lithuania scored a career-high 29 points and matched a career-high with five assists in leading Wake Forest to a 93-72 win over Florida State.

Tech next plays Wednesday in a 7 p.m. contest against Davidson at the Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C.
