Miller and Hern Lead Tech on Day One in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Jerome Miller finished second in the men’s high jump with a mark of 6 feet, 11 ½ inches on day one of the Kentucky Invitational. The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams are competing this weekend at the Nutter Field House on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Also competing for the men, sophomore Juan Cave, placed third in the high jump with a height of 6 feet, 9 ½ inches. Senior J.J. Lemons finished third in the men’s triple jump with an indoor personal-best mark of 50 feet, 6 inches. Sophomore Nigel Orr tied his personal-best in the triple jump with a mark of 48 feet, 10 ¾ inches for a fifth-place finish.

Sophomore Kimery Hern led the women’s team by setting an indoor personal-best throw of 148 feet, 8 inches in the discus throw for a second-place finish. Sophomore Mellany Stanislaus finished fifth in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 40 feet.

The track team will be back in action on Saturday for the conclusion of the Kentucky Invitational. Live results are available at www.ukathletics.com.
