Michael Massey Wins High Jump at Georgia Tech Invitational

At the Georgia Tech Invitational, Michael Massey cleared 6 feet-9.75 inches in the men’s high jump to win the event. He also placed fourth in the long jump (22 feet-4.5 inches), an event in which Tech had three of the top six finishers. Chris Crawley placed second with a jump of 23 feet-1.25 inches, while Brian Fraser was sixth at 22 feet-0.25 inches. Fraser added a third place finish in the triple jump (47 feet-11.25 inches), while Crawley was fifth in the event (45 feet-9.25 inches).

Bryan Swarn ran a season-best 46.69 to win the 400 meters. Other top Tech finishers in running events included Brendon Mahoney with third place in the 800 meters in a season-best and regional qualifying time of 1:50.07. Neil McDonagh placed fifth in the 1500 meters (3:49.10).

In field events, Zeb Sion placed second in the shot put with a throw of 58 feet-6 inches, while Alex Berardi was fourth in the pole vault at 15 feet-1 inch.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action April 11-12 at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn.
