ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will look to extend its current three-match win streak this weekend when it hosts two matches to close out the regular season. The Yellow Jackets (12-8, 4-3) will welcome ACC foe Florida State (Fri., 2:30 p .m.) and Miami (Sun., 1 p.m.) to the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
Tech’s resurgence of late has been impressive, as the Jackets have won four of their last five matches, winning three matches by 6-1 scores. The Yellow Jackets have continued to have success in doubles play, winning the doubles point in four of the last five matches, with three of those matches resulting in team victories.
A trio of players have been the catalysts for the Jackets as juniors Roger Anderson and David Wright along with sophomore Joao Menano have been Tech’s most successful individual competitors of late. Anderson has won three of his last four singles matches, while Wright has won three-straight outings. Anderson and Wright have teamed at the No. 1 doubles spot for much of the year and have won eight-straight doubles matches as a team. Menano’s win at the No. 4 singles spot on April 7 clinched Tech’s win over Furham and gave the Jackets’ their third-straight win, as he disposed of the Paladins’ Patrick Gaughan in three sets by scores of 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. Menano has won three-straight singles outings and has teamed with Fabio Campos for three doubles victories over the past five matches.
Tech will offer a special promotion for fans in attendance at Sunday’s match with Miami, as the first 100 fans will receive free Georgia Tech tennis t-shirts upon entering the match.
