Men's Tennis Adds Brandon Freestone to 2017 Class

THE FLATS — Georgia Tech men’s tennis head coach Kenny Thorne announced the addition of Brandon Freestone to the class of 2017 on Thursday, completing the three-man signing class.

Freestone joins fall signees Frederick “Zummy” Bauer and Carlos Divar. Divar enrolled at Tech in January 2017.

Brandon Freestone // Roswell, Ga.

Brandon Freestone comes to The Flats from Roswell, Ga. He is ranked No. 93 nationally among seniors and seventh in Georgia among seniors according to tennisrecruiting.net. The Roswell, Ga., native took second place in the Grade 5 International Tennis Federation tournament in Honduras in September 2016. In November 2016, he competed at the South Africa ITF Futures. In 2017, Freestone has notched wins over the No. 36-ranked senior, Matthew Terry, and the No. 22-ranked junior, Colton Gromley.

Head coach Kenny Thorne on Brandon Freeman: “We are excited about Brandon joining our team this fall. His game is technically sound and he will develop well in our environment. He wants to excel in school as well as on the court and Georgia Tech is the best place to do it. We have had a lot of success with our in-state players developing and helping us tremendously. We look forward to working with Brandon as well as Zummy Bauer this fall.”
