McKee Wins Long Jump At Georgia Relays

ATHENS, Ga. – Junior Julienne McKee placed first in the long jump as the Georgia Tech track and field team wrapped up competition Saturday at the Georgia Relays. McKee long jumped to a distance of 6.32m (20-09) to earn the victory.

Teammates Jhanelle McLeod and Jasmine Kent placed third and fourth in the event, respectively. McLeod finished with a distance of 6.05m (19’10.25″) and Kent logged 5.98m (19’07.50″).

On the men’s side, Myles McDavid took second in the long jump with a distance of 7.26m (23’10”).

The Jackets recorded two additional first-place finishes. Mykhail Chambers won the high jump with a height of 2.13m (6’11.75″) and Ama Larbi won the 400-meter hurdles, logging a time of 1:02.77.

Tech had more success in the field events as Samantha Becker placed third in the pole vault (3.55m; 11’7.75″). On the men’s side, Nikita Kirillov placed third (4.80m; 15’09”) and Nathan Daniel took fourth (4.70m; 15’05”).

On the track, freshman Alexander Reese finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 49.16. Broderick Snoddy placed second in the 100 meters with a time of 10.32 and Perron Jones took sixth (10.58).

The Jackets also had success in the middle distance events. Katie Vance finished first for Tech and fourth overall in the 1,500 meters with a career-best time of 4:51.15. In addition to Vance, four Jackets finished in the top 10 of the field of 32 in Maria Boff (sixth, 4:56.01), Kaylee Isaacs (eighth, 4:58.63), Kelly Meyer (ninth, 4:59.13) and Elena Hubbard (10th, 4:59.87).

Nat Estes finished fourth in the men’s 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 3:58.68, followed by Cole Jackob in fifth (3:59.00), Eric Powers in sixth (3:59.58) and Justin Weaver in seventh (4:00.82).

Wyatt Gouldthorpe and Niall Longobardi took second and third, respectively, in the men’s 3,000 meters. Gouldthorpe crossed the line in a personal-best time of 8:40.92 and Longobardi recorded a time of 8:46.42.

In the relay events, Tech took first in the women’s 4×800-meter relay as Rachel Hammond, Carolina Kissel, Laura Serres and Morgan Jackson ran to a time of 9:20.13.

The Jackets also won the men’s 4×800-meter relay. Brandon Lasater, Jeremy Greenwald, Joseph Stowe and Cole Jackob recorded a time of 7:42.95.

The foursome of Perron Jones, Broderick Snoddy, Michael Simms and Jonathan Gardner finished third in the men’s 4×100-meter relay with a time of 41.09.

The Jackets are back in action March 22-23 at the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
