THE FLATS – Georgia Tech baseball junior Kyle McCann continues his impressive year by being named to Perfect Game/Rawlings College Baseball All-America Second Team, the organization announced Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets’ catcher has been a force both at the plate and behind the dish this season, currently leading the ACC in home runs (12 – t-1st), RBI per game (1.28 – 1st), slugging percentage (.779 – 1st), while ranking among the top in walks (32 – 2nd), on-base percentage (.507 – 2nd) and total bases (81 – 2nd).
Helping power the fourth-best offense in the conference, McCann has hit .408 for five doubles, 11 homers and 33 RBI in Georgia Tech wins this season. Overall through 29 games, the Suwanee, Ga. native is hitting .346 for 36 hits, 21 of which for extra bases.
Georgia Tech will return home for a crucial ACC series between the other team tied atop the Coastal Division, No. 9 North Carolina, at Russ Chandler Stadium on April 6-8. First pitches are scheduled for 6 p.m., 4 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, and will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
