Matthews Earns All-American Honors

Final Results

Birmingham, ALA. — On the final day of the NCAA Indoor Championships the Georgia Tech track and field team saw Bria Matthews earn all-American honors in the women’s triple jump.

Matthews would finish in fifth, jumping a personal best mark of 13.50 meters, 44′ 3.5″. The ACC Champion would move from eighth to fifth on her last jump of the competition.

“What a great competition for Bria,” noted women’s track and field head coach Alan Drosky. “She came through with a big third jump to advance to the final, and then an even bigger last jump to move into fifth. We couldn’t be more proud of her. Her determination and resilience over the last two years to get back to this stage are only matched by the faith her coaches, Nat Page and Alphonso Jordan, have had in her.”

The Jackets finish the NCAA Women’s Indoor Championships tied for 48th with Nebraska-Omaha, Washington, and Norfolk State.

Jeanine Williams finished her indoor career in the 60 meter hurdles event with a time of 8.22 on Friday night and both Williams and Matthews will begin to prepare for the outdoor season.

The Georgia Tech track and field team will begin its outdoor season on March 15-16 when the Jackets host the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
