Associate Director of Athletics
Senior Woman Administrator
Mary McElroy, in her third year on the Georgia Tech athletics staff, has been elevated to the position of associate director of athletics and senior woman administrator.
She spent the past two years overseeing Georgia Tech’s NCAA Compliance program, was named assistant director of athletics in August, 2000.
McElroy previously spent four years at the U.S. Naval Academy, including three with the Naval Academy Athletic Association as Senior Woman Administrator and Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA Compliance. She directed NCAA compliance for 29 varsity sports while directly overseeing the sports of women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s swimming and men’s tennis.
McElroy also served one year as the Naval Academy’s Director of Alumni Services.
A native of Great Mills, Md., McElroy earned a B.S. degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1987 and then served as a supply officer in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years, attaining the rank of Captain. She recently completed a master’s degree (MSM 2000) at Georgia Tech while working full-time at the Athletic Association.
She is married to Terry McElroy and the couple has two sons, Darrin and Austin.
