ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s Brandon Makinson and Chris Khosravi registered top-20 finishes in the three-meter springboard dive on day one of the 2010 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships held at the GT Aquatic Center. In the finals, Makinson finished 11th, while Khosravi placed 17th.
Makinson and Khosravi, both freshmen, qualified for the finals with top 20 marks in preliminaries. Khosravi finished 16th in the prelim round with a final score of 311.20, while Makinson put up a score of 307.90 to finish 17th. In the finals, Makinson posted a score of 329.50 to place 11th while Khosravi had a mark of 291.10 to finish 17th.
The only other competitor for Tech on the first day of the Zone Diving Championships was senior Hannah Krimm, who just missed qualifying for the finals of the women’s one meter springboard after posting a score of 228.85 in preliminaries.
Action gets underway at the Aquatic Center tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. with the preliminaries of the women’s three-meter springboard.
