Mahoney & Sallinger Named Wendy's Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week.

ATLANTA-Men’s track star Brendon Mahoney and softball pitcher Jessica Sallinger were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, February 9, 2004.

Mahoney, a senior from Cumming, Ga., was the top ACC finisher in the mile with a time of 4:02.32. His time in the mile was good enough for an NCAA provisional. Mahoney finished eighth in the mile at the Meyo Invitational held over the weekend in South Bend, Ind.

Sallinger, a junior from Kennesaw, Ga., threw her fourth career no-hitter against Louisiana-Monroe, striking out five. Along with her no-hitter, Sallinger went a perfect 2-0 at the Mardi Gras Classic. On the weekend, she pitched 12.0 innings, recording 14 strikeouts, and 0.58 ERA. She shut down No. 9 Louisiana-Lafayette, allowing only three hits while striking out nine. Sallinger was also named to the Mardi Gras Classic All-Tournament Team.
