GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second straight week and third time this season, Georgia Tech senior Kristen Adkins has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Adkins went 2-0 on the week and also earned two saves in helping the Yellow Jackets extend their winning streak to 10 games. She pitched 12.2 innings, surrendering just four hits and two walks. Adkins picked up a win over Bowling Green Friday, striking out four. Her second victory of the week came Sunday against Belmont, as she fanned seven of the 11 batters she faced. She held opponents to a .093 batting average on the week, averaging 1.39 strikeouts per inning. In her final appearance of the week, Adkins came into the game against Georgia State in the fifth inning up 1-0 and with runners at first and third and one out. She got out of the jam and preserved the 1-0 win for the Yellow Jackets.
Adkins is now 8-2 on the season with a 0.79 ERA and .199 opponent’s batting average. She has 65 strikeouts in 62 innings and has not allowed a run in 18.1 consecutive innings now.
