THE FLATS – Freshman middle blocker Kodie Comby was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week the league office announced Monday. The honor marks the first ACC weekly honor for the Yellow Jackets this season.
A native of Houston, Texas, was named to the all-tournament team after the Jackets swept the competition at the Georgia Challenge, including handing Georgia its first loss of the season. Against Georgia, Comby tallied eight kills and a .400 hitting percentage with three blocks.
Comby had a season-high 12 kills against Kennesaw State and hit .474 on the weekend with 22 kills and six blocks.
Georgia Tech is back in action when it travels to Conway, S.C. for the Coastal Carolina Tournament where the Jackets take on North Florida and Coastal Carolina Sept. 16-17.
