GREENSBORO, N.C. – After leading the Jackets to an impressive showing in California last week, Georgia Tech sophomore shortstop Tara Knudsen was named ACC Softball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Knudsen, a native of Thornton, Colo., led the Yellow Jackets (18-6, 0-0 ACC) to a 5-2 week, including a 2-1 win over No. 17 Iowa. She hit .500 (11-for-22), scored six runs and tallied six runs batted in. Knudsen hit a game-winning, walk-off home run to defeat Long Beach State, 4-2, on March 8. In a 6-4 win over Syracuse on the same day, she went 3-for-3 including two triples and two RBI. During the week, she recorded a double and three triples.

She had at least one hit in every game on the week.

On the season, Knudsen leads Tech with a .468 average, five home runs and 23 RBI. She also has four doubles and three triples, contributing to a .792 slugging percentage.

The Jackets return to action Wednesday when they travel to Troy State for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
