Kidd Wins Bronze at IAAF World Junior Championships

GROSSETO, Italy – Freshman track star Ashlee Kidd picked up a Bronze medal in the women’s 400 meters at the IAAF World Junior Championships on Thursday night. Kidd crossed the finish line with a time of 52.45, while U.S. teammate Natasha Hastings won the Gold with a time of 52.04.

“Overall, I think I had a good race and a good start, but I got tired at the end,” said Kidd. “It has been a long season. The last 100 meters, I tried to kick it in but I just did not have enough left to beat the other two at the finish.”

Picking up the Silver Medal in the 400 was Jamaica’s Sonita Sutherland with a time of 52.41. The United States continues to lead the Medal count with seven (4 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze); Russia is second with six (2 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze) and Germany third with five (1 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze).
