Kidd and Murton Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

Ashlee Kidd and Luke Murton were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Tuesday, May 30, 2006.

Kidd, a junior from St. Petersburg, Fla., clocked a personal-record time of 51.58 in the women’s 400-meter dash and was a member of the 4x100m relay team that qualified for the national outdoor meet with a fourth-place finish, posting a time of 44.23 last week at the NCAA East Region Championships. Kidd has now qualified for the NCAA Outdoor meet in the 400-meter dash and the 4×100 meter relay.

Murton, a freshman from McDonough, Ga., helped the baseball team to an appearance in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. Murton tied a Georgia Tech record with three home runs in a single game Saturday night against Clemson, while driving in seven runs, including a grand slam. He finished the tournament with a .294 batting average and for his efforts was named to the ACC All-Tournament team.
