GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech junior shortstop Kelsi Weseman has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. This is the first honor this season for the Hutto, Texas native.
Weseman hit .600, collecting nine hits, six runs and seven RBI in four games last week. She also recorded five extra-base hits with two doubles and three home runs as Georgia Tech went 3-1 on the week, including a series win at conference foe Virginia Tech. Weseman opened the week against Kennesaw State, going 2-for-4 at the plate and driving in four runs. The Yellow Jackets went on to win 6-1. In game two at Virginia Tech, she started the three-run ninth inning rally, hitting a double off of the center field fence. Georgia Tech prevailed 8-5 in nine. Weseman finished the week going 3-for-3 with a solo home run as the Yellow Jackets topped the Hokies 11-3 and claimed the series victory, their ACC record 20th consecutive conference series win. She had a 1.333 slugging percentage and .625 on-base percentage for the week as well.
