Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson is one of 15 semifinalists for the 70th Maxwell Award for the Collegiate Player of the Year.
The junior all-America leads the ACC in receptions (35, 5.0 pg) and receiving yards (559, 79.9 pg) and has caught eight touchdown passes.
Maxwell Football Club President Ron Jaworski, announced the 2006 Semifinalists, a field of fifteen candidates selected by the Maxwell Football Club Advisory Committee.
The announcement of the winners of the Maxwell Award will be made during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show that will be broadcast on ESPN on Thursday December 7, 2006. Three finalists will be in attendance for the ESPN broadcast. The formal presentation of will be made at the Maxwell Football Club’s Awards Dinner, to be held on Friday March 2, 2007 at the Harrah’s Entertainment Complex in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Voting will begin on Wednesday November 3rd and close on Friday December 1st.
