ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (17-4, 4-3 ACC) closes out its three game homestand against Florida State Sunday at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:06 p.m.
The game will be televised live on the ACC Regional Sports Networks (Fox Sports South in Atlanta). Mike Hogewood and Charlene Curtis will call all the action. Tech fans can also listen to Richard Musterer and LaChina Robinson call the game on WREK radio (91.1 FM/www.wrek.org), Georgia Tech women’s basketball’s flagship station.
“Florida State is a very talented team and they play very hard on both ends of the floor,” head coach MaChelle Joseph said. “Just as we present match-up problems for them, they present defensive match-up problems for us. This is going to be a great Atlantic Coast Conference game and will come down to defense and rebounding. We know how to win at home and understand how important it is to protect our home court.”
The Yellow Jackets will meet the Seminoles for the 35th time in the mid-afternoon match-up. The series is tied at 17 apiece but the last three games have gone in Florida State’s favor, including a 63-52 win over Tech last season in Tallahassee.
Tech is coming off a 77-59 win over Clemson at the AMC last Thursday. The Jackets snapped a season-high two-game losing streak with the win and continued the program’s best start since the 1977-78 season.
Senior Janie Mitchell is averaging a team-high 16.9 points and 6.6 rebounds to lead the Jackets this season. Senior Chioma Nnamaka is just seven three-pointers shy of first place on the Georgia Tech all-time three-point field goals made list.
The Jackets will next travel to Miami on Thursday, Feb. 7. Tip-off at the BankUnited Center is slated for 7 p.m.
