Nov. 11, 2007

Nov. 13, 2007 Game Notes

ATLANTA – Off to a solid start, the Georgia Tech women’s basketball team will hit the road for the first time this season on Tuesday to face Tulane University (1-0) in New Orleans. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, and the game can be heard on WREK (91.1 FM in Atlanta/www.wrek.org).

Georgia Tech (1-0) will be making it’s first-ever appearance at Fogelman Arena on the Tulane campus. The two programs have met twice before with the Jackets winning both games, though the last meeting took place over 26 years ago. Tech defeated the Green Wave, 72-58, on Jan. 18, 1981 in Atlanta, one of only three victories by the Jackets in the AMC during the 1980-81 season.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off a season-opening, 69-50 victory over Davidson at Alexander Memorial Coliseum last Friday. Senior Chioma Nnamaka led all scorers with 18 points and freshman Iasia Hemingway grabbed nine boards to pace the Jackets.

Tech returns to the AMC next Sunday, Nov. 18 to face Temple University at 2 p.m. The Jackets will not only try to avenge last season’s 76-62 loss to Temple in Philadelphia, but they will also raise the 2007 NCAA Tournament banner to commemorate the program’s first NCAA Tournament victory.
